How to Start a Revolution

That’s the name of a recent documentary, now showing in Brooklyn.  It’s about Gene Sharp, a strategist of nonviolent resistance whose ideas have been behind a number of recent revolutions, including the ongoing revolts in the Middle East.  The film is reviewed in the New York Times here.  Of particular interest is the link to Sharp’s actual how-to book, a practical guide to non-violently overthrowing dictatorship.  If you have time and interest, it might be interesting to compare Gene Sharp’s advice with revolutions we’ve studied, or with the revolution you’re researching.
